Barbara Rae (Brown) Porter

Barbara Rae Brown Porter, age 85, passed away peacefully in her home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico on October 28, 2023, her 63rd wedding anniversary she shared with her husband James. She was surrounded by her husband and children.
Barbara was born in Marion, Ohio on July 23, 1938 to George and Ruth Brown.
She lived in Tucson and Pinetop-Lakeside, Arizona for most of her life, later moving to New Mexico. Barbara was intelligent and quick witted, a registered nurse by trade, but her heart's passion was being a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cared very deeply for her family, and created vacation camps at their home so she could spend more time making memories with her grandchildren, calling it "Camp G."
Barbara was an incredibly talented woman, and created beautiful quilts, wall hangings and tole paintings, and enjoyed sewing for her family.
She loved gardening and bird watching, and was also passionate about her family heritage, becoming the family historian by researching genealogy back to the 1400s.
It's not surprising that Barbara instilled a legacy that "family is everything" into the hearts of everyone who knew her and her immeasurable kindness.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years James D. Porter, and their 4 children, Mark Porter, Wendy Garcia, Lisa Cheeseman (Bobby),
Kelly Martinez (Michael), as well as their many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

While Barbara's family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember her in a way that honors her beautiful spirit, and great strength. Her husband and children invite family and friends to join them in a Celebration of Life gathering at their home in Rio Rancho,
NM.
