Darlene Carr Obituary

Darlene Katherine Carr went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 12, 2024. Born in Prescott, AZ to Edward Elmo Carr and Lupe Martinez on April 28, 1938. Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, beloved Grandma Carr, and her son David Montoya. She is survived by her sister Jenny Mitchell, and 5 children, Mikey Montoya, Shari Montoya (partner Maxine), Manuel (Sonnyboy) Montoya Jr. (wife Sue), Adam Montoya, Stacy Montoya (wife Denise). She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several friends. Darlene's life was characterized by her love for travel, she traveled the world and enjoyed sharing her experiences. She was an amazing quilt and jewelry maker, and nothing gave her more pleasure than sharing these treasures with other people. She loved to garden, was an amazing cook, and always did a little extra to make every occasion special in her own way. She was a giver at heart to those she loved and strangers alike. She had a love and compassion for animals. She was a good storyteller and never short on words…never!! Darlene was a retired corrections officer, although her job was stressful, she enjoyed what she did, (lots of stories) and she was often praised for doing a good job and treating people with integrity.

A celebration of Darlene's life will be held on Monday, March 11th with a rosary starting at 9:15 AM , and a mass to follow at 10:00 AM at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church located at 5712 Paradise Blvd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114. Mom
(WOW), words can't express the gratitude that we have for everything that you did for us, as kids, and as adults. You will forever live through the memories and teachings that you left behind…a treasured keepsake. The only thing better than having you as our guardian angel was having you as our Mom. We will find you in every feather you leave behind as you continue to watch over us.
