James. L. Guthrie, 72, of Albuquerque passed from this life on Saturday, November 7th.
Jim was born on December 16, 1947 in Marshall, Arkansas to James Guthrie and Opal L. (Young) Hilton.
Jim is survived by his four siblings – Kathy Schmitt (Husband Richard) of Gallup, NM, Ron Guthrie of Albuquerque, NM, Renee Guthrie of Albuquerque, NM, Bill Guthrie of Locust Grove, OK and numerous nieces and nephews whom he adored.
Jim was employed for many years by Indian Jewelers Supply (I.J.S.) He was held in the highest regard by his employees.
An avid reader, Jim enjoyed keeping up with current events and watching college sports (basketball and football). He especially loved his Oklahoma State Cowboys as he attended the University in Stillwater. He also had an appreciation and love for music.
Above all else, Jim’s devotion and love to his family is the touchstone of who he was. Kindness, compassion, and humor was his motto. His best talent was the way he combined the roles of brother, father, uncle and cousin with family and friends. He’s earned a path to the brightest of places and his light will shine with the brightest of stars.
