Matthew William Parkes

Matthew "Matt" Parkes, age 62, passed away at home on June 14, 2024. He was born November 20, 1961 in Woodbury, NJ. After his family relocated to New Mexico, Matt grew up and was educated in Albuquerque where he made many lifelong friends at Del Norte High School and was a proud alumnus of the University of New Mexico. After graduation, Matt lived and worked in San Diego, CA and Las Vegas, NV before returning to the Land of Enchantment. Throughout his life, Matt had many passions that included muscle cars, motorcycles, skiing, river rafting and making road trips with his friends to attend concerts and sporting events. Though slowed by illness in recent years, Matt never lost his desire to help his friends and family, he and his truck were always available for anyone who needed something moved. He would often make small gestures, gifts, and never forgot a birthday or special event for those close to him.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Angelina Parkes; and father, William Parkes.

Matt is survived by his younger siblings Andrew, Melissa, and Muriel; nieces and nephews, Joshua, Katie, Morgan, Melody, and Jared; and great niece, Adalynn; as well as his many loving friends.

His spirit and sense of humor will be missed by all.
