Reyes G Varela

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Reyes G. Varela, age 42,
on October 1, 2023.

Reyes is survived by his children, Reyna, Lilianna, Amilia and Christian; his
loving mother Juanita Zamora, father Guillermo Varela, sister Irene Marquez
(Yasser), brother Fernando Varela, plus grandparents, nephews, one niece and
many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Reyes was an amazing son with such a
good heart and a jokester who always knew how to make you smile. His children
were his world and he loved them unconditionally. He enjoyed spending time with
his family and being in the outdoors fishing, hunting, or playing a game of
horseshoes with friends and family. Some of his fondest memories were the times
he spent working on the railroads with his Uncle George. They would travel all
over New Mexico and to other states, pulling and hauling railroad ties. He would
later learn electrical by watching and learning from his uncles; he became a skilled
electrician and used his skills to help others. He learned many other trades such as
plumbing, construction, drywall, and remodeling, which kept him busy. Reyes
didn't know how to say "no," it was just not in his vocabulary. All you had to do
was ask and he would do anything for you. He will be deeply missed and remembered
by the many lives he touched.
