Ronald Blevins Obituary

Ronald (Ron) J. Blevins, our Daddy and Papa, passed from this life on March 18, 2022, at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM, due to complications of advanced Alzheimer’s dementia.
He was born in Gilbert, Arizona, on June 17, 1937, to Joe and Eva Blevins, and spent much of his life in Texas, New Mexico and Colorado.  He was a veteran of the US Air Force, proudly serving as a weapons mechanic with the 366th A&E Maintenance Squadron 1958-1962, and we are grateful for his service.
Ron met and married Lena Englehart in 1965, and their combined families made him father of seven children at the tender age of 28.  Sadly, Lena passed away in 1987.  Ron is survived by his current wife, Christine (Brock) Blevins, and son Jimmy (Shelly), daughter Donna Mills, and stepchildren who he claimed as his own Sandy (Jeff) Zongora, Donnie (Judy) Englehart, and David (April) Englehart.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Cassie, Kellie, Joseph, Amanda, Shalena, Cheryl, Terry, Larie, Lindsey, Cari, Micah, Leah, Caleb, Cory, Lisa, and Charles, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death are his parents, stepson Randy Englehart (1973), daughter Ronda Hilton (1995), and his only sibling Russell Blevins, along with Christine’s children, Sid Brock, Rod Brock, Bobby Brock and Brenda Broughton.
Ron had a successful career as a car and diesel mechanic and was known for his quality work. He worked at several shops in Farmington throughout the years.  He retired from Riley & Sons in 2002, much to the chagrin of his friend and boss, Sonny Riley.
Ron spent his spare time in the early years hunting, fishing, camping, and boating on Navajo lake with his family, and teasing his grandchildren.  He also league bowled for several years.  In 1984, he developed a passion for trap shooting, winning many trophies at various shoots.  He became the New Mexico State Champion in 1985.  In his later years, he spent time panning and mining for gold, fishing, and taking care of the 40 acres and home he and Christine shared in Egnar, Colorado.
Anyone that knew Ron knew that he was a strong, stubborn, caring man who fiercely protected his loved ones—and could also hold a grudge.  He had a great sense of humor and a subtle charm about him.  He was a faithful friend to many, maintaining relationships throughout the years with those he served in the Air Force with, and making life-long friends through his various jobs.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery between Farmington and Aztec on Saturday, April 9, at 1:00pm.
