On January 8, 2024, Miss Tamara Joyce Cox went to the arms of Jesus. She was preceded in death by her loving father, James Darrell Cox and her grandparents. She is survived by her mother, Virginia Cox and her especially close cousins: Lisa Clute, Coty Clute, Bruce Hammons, Andrea Westerhold (Sharon), Cody Westerhold (Taylor), Brian McWilliams and Tammy McWilliams, and multiple aunts and uncles.
Tamara was born September 25, 1974, in Oakland, California. Her family moved to Albuquerque when she was young, and she considered New Mexico her home. Tamara was particularly fond of green chile and sopapillas. Tamara was a multi-gold and silver medalist in the New Mexico Special Olympics for competing in track, poly-hockey, golf and swimming. Most importantly she excelled at the dances that followed the Special Olympic meets. Tamara was made a Junior member of the New Mexico Gunfighters Association, where she made life-long friends all throughout the Southwest. Tamara had very close relationships with her special families at Alianza and Providence.
Funeral services for Tamara will be on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 3-5 pm, at Noblin Funeral Services, 2211 E Main St, Los Lunas, NM 87031. Interment will take place at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas at a date to be determined.
